I'm looking (very late...) for a place to stay near Lisbon, or maybe near Porto, during August for one couple, one extra adult, and one child.

Ideally, we'd like somewhere with three bedrooms -- old preferred to new. €1000 per week for accommodation is probably our maximum.

Any ideas or pointers much appreciated.

I tried to find the hostel I stayed at when I was in Porto, but I can't seem to find it. It's been awhile so it may have closed down. My best tip for Porto, if you have time, is to take a train along the Douro river valley - it's beautiful and scenic and an awesome day-trip from the city.

As for Lisbon, anywhere near the historical and central area of Lisbon (Baixa) is probably best. Check this one out - I didn't stay there personally but I've heard good things : http://www.hostelworld.com/availability.php/Travellers-House/Lisbon/15588

Might I strongly suggest a trip to the Lagos/ the Algarve?! I had planned on spending 3 nights there and wound up staying over a week in an excellent hostel which I will never forget: http://www.hostelworld.com/availability.php/Residencial-Sol-a-Sol/Lagos/12529

The Algarve was, by far, my favourite place in all of Portugal. Definitely try to get there if you have a chance. :) And Coimbra is excellent too. We stayed here: http://www.hostelworld.com/availability.php/Guesthouse-Casa-Pombal/Coimbra/23504 and they have, to date, the best breakfasts I have tasted in any hostel/hotel in all my travels. :) Check it out if you're swinging by the area.

Good luck!! :) about 6 years ago

Well if you are interested in house sitting for my wife and I send a message to me.

The place is small, only 1 bedroom but the living room has a sofa-bed. Both beds are doubles.

We would only ask enough money to cover the bills and that you water the plants in the courtyard.

It also depends on the dates in August you need a place. As we leave on the 24th of July and return on the 18th of August about 6 years ago

Nicholas -- that's very kind and much appreciated. Unfortunately I think it will be too small for us (three adults and one 11-year-old). Thanks anyway! about 6 years ago
