I had a very short time in Portugal which was restricted to just Lisbon, which was one of the most wonderful cities I have been to.
Firstly it is just fantastic to get lost in all the little streets and alleys.
Some places I enjoyed visiting were; St George's Castle, The National Pantheon, Near the pantheon was some other monastery, and then just outside of Lisbon, in Belem was Jeronimos Monastery. and the Discovery Monument.
Theres definitely some fantastic architecture around Lisbon!! almost 10 years ago
the algarve is good but be careful where you go as some parts (albufeira) are tailored to the british tourist and not very authentic portugal (lots of bucks nights etc).
Lagos is very nice and cheap good seafood
monchique in the mountains near albufeira is very ncie and quaint
There's a nice beach in a city that starts with P in between albufeira and lagos but cant remember the name sorry almost 10 years ago
One of my favourite towns in the world is in Portugal.
Ericeira - has awesome surf, relaxed untouristy vibe, pretty architecture and cobbled streets, good night life, pretty girls .... almost 10 years agoAnswered by whoissteveanyway via Travellr.com
You should definitely go to Lisbon ( http://travellr.com/questions/portugal/36/what-is-a-good-day-trip-from-lisbon ), and sorroundings, like Sintra, Cascais.
Like some said Algarve is also a good place to go.
If you have the time, you should also go to the the north of the country, I would recommend Oporto, Bragança, Serra da Estrela.
Probably forgetting some excellent places... almost 10 years ago
