We're traveling all around the country (lisbon, coimbra, porto, evora, alentejo, etc.) and would like to get some food recommendations (we'll drive pretty much anywhere for good food :)

In Alentejo you'll eat well in almost any place! And you eat a lot by very low prices.

In Lisbon, I would recommend the typical restaurants called "tascas" in downtown, Chiado, Alfama, Restauradores (Rua do Duque in Restauradores has lots of tascas). Here you have great portuguese food and also at low prices!

As for the food, try "Açorda", any course with codfish, "Alheira", "Cozido à Portuguesa", "Arroz de pato" (duck rice) and "Caldeirada".

In Porto, don't forget to try "Francesinha" (Little french girl) or "Tripas à Moda do Porto".

Avoid turistic places and you will be fine!

You will love portuguese food, that's for sure ;) over 7 years ago

I need to tell also that Portugal has more than 100 different codfish receipts, you just need to find one that can fit better in your stomachs ;)

Don't forget also "Pasteis de Belem" for me is the best sweet pastry in all the world, you can find it in Belem, Lisbon. You just need to ask somebody and they will tell you where can you taste the better ones.

I hope you enjoy this magnificent country. about 5 years ago

In Alentejo, near Ourique look for a restaurant called Castro da Cola in a very smal village with the same name. It is realy good. Genuine food of Alentejo. about 5 years ago
