Do a story on the variety and quality of the local cuisine outside the capital.. If you visit a small village restaurants are hard to find so you might be invited into a local's home for a traditional meal.

Though Romanian food might be all that original (most things we consider traditional foods are actually borrowed / adapted from Turkish cuisine or wide-spread all over the Balkans) or might look quite simple with loads of hearty comfort foods, there's still a great variety of "home-made" recipes and home-grown produce (we export a lot of organic food).

In Bucharest try going to Targul Taranului (Peasants Fair / Farmers market) at The Ark (www.theark.ro; it's a new hip location just outside the city center) or try Rossetya (http://www.rossetya.ro/), a restaurant with 19th century recipes. Carul cu Bere offers some traditional (and international) dishes but would be reknown more for its exquisite interior.

Outside Bucharest it's quite easy to find some restaurants offering staples or in rural areas some b&b offering nice meals (using mostly their own dairy & meat & garden vegetables).
