    Hey Anita!
The best provider for pre paid sim cards are Vodakom. Their the cheapest and are very popular and you can buy a sim card in any of their stores. I'm pretty sure they have one in the airport, but if not you will see some as soon as you get into the city centre! :) over 7 years ago

Be sure to bring ample ID and proof of residence (Municipal bill etc.) or you may not be allowed to buy a sim card. MTN is also a good cellphone privider. over 4 years ago

You dont need proof of residence if you are a traveller, just your passport. The best option to get sim card is from an actual Vodacom shop where they wont ask for proof of residence and they can charge up your sim card there for you without having to print off a docket (responsible tourism tip). There is one at Johannesburg airport along with other providers (MTN & Telkom) - to the right as you exit International Arrivals as well as Cape Town Airport - outside domestic arrivals. over 4 years ago

I'd go for Vodacom, but only because it is what I've always used. Sure the others are just fine too. But I would go to a Vodacom shop for the sim. The shops are at all main airports so get one as soon as you arrive and then you can let people know your number. over 4 years ago
