I don't think its safe at the moment given the violence between police and the red protestors that's risen in the last few days.I would travel elsewhere in Thailand and avoid BKK. over 6 years ago

It would seem that the tourist areas should be fine. Its the government buildings that are being targetted. over 6 years ago

I have been there during various times of national trouble. Always I felt safe. Even during the last coup the young soldiers were quite friendly and polite to me. That said, always listen to reports of danger and warnings from locals. over 5 years ago

Currently, Bangkok is safe to visit. The country's recently elected majority is in the process of creating a working government, thus it's quite safe. over 5 years ago

Yes. Its been voted best city on the world two years in a row by travel and leisure magazine. That pretty much says it's more than OK to visit this awesome city. over 5 years ago

Your question is a year old but this system makes it appear as if it is 7 days old or so. The a swear, now that it is 2011 and the election has gone smoothly, is that it is very very safe. Even during the heat of the riots it was SAFE for tourists... Just not pleasant to have the city partly unavailable. No tourist was threatened. over 5 years ago
