Well, a long time ago I took the trains north up through Rajasthan, across to Varanasi then by bus north again into Nepal. After some weeks I then flew across to Thailand, but these days I'd ** highly ** recommend a trip around Burma / Myanmar on the way past - wonderful country and people. about 11 years ago

Not sure if you can get a visa and enter Burma from Bangladesh. You most likely have to enter and leave to/from Thailand. But check with the embassy.

I flew from Kolkata to Bangkok. You can get cheap tickets with Air India Express. about 11 years ago

Myanmar is notoriously difficult for Visa's. Getting one to cross the country is the most diifficult according to my research last year. Although all of this changes day by day, which also means even if you do get a visa you might still have problems when you get to the border. If you can find a way north you may be able to pick up the tran-siberian railway and then go via China and down. about 11 years ago
