What I did was visit the "Israeli Connection" near Khaosan street in Bangkok, they have great travel packages for cheap + free internet!

I ended up staying at a beautiful hotel in Kanchanaburi for 4 days, included transportation, had an excellent private tour guide, visits to tiger temple, food, erawan falls, and an elephant camp, and a lot more was included all for under 80 dollars when I booked through them over 7 years ago

Get a tour from Khaosarn road for a day ... around 100sth baht and u can go full day to the tour and tiger temple is on the list. Worth it. Better than going on your own either by private taxi or train. Better to go with a mini van like the othere.. i have done that in my young days. Cheers. about 7 years ago

You can take a bus to Kanchanaburi from the Southern Bus Terminal (Bangkok) or the travel agency at Khaosan Road.

I went to the Tiger Temple last 3 month and I booked with the tour desk at my hotel (Sivalai Place). It was sooo cheap package. Floating Market, River Kwae and Tiger Temple. Just 850 Bht including lunch and pick up service.
