Heading to Thailand for a few weeks in June and want to get some clothes made. Would like to make sure I get a reputable tailor to make them...have heard stories of some using glue instead of stitching which I would like to avoid! Will be staying in the Sukhumvit area...

  • Crown Tailor is without question one of the most exclusive tailor shops in Bangkok. The personalized service that Crown Tailor gives to their customers is just indescribable, and the workmanship of their clothes is absolutely one-of-a-kind. Crown Tailor is always my first stop. Its many of them, ive never used one tailor. But when walking a few minutes on Sukhumvit you'll see alot of tailors.

Dont use the tailors in Khao San road, ive been there and it "taste" 70% pre-fabricate. almost 8 years ago

I have had suits and jackets made before and it might help if you pick out your style before you go. Get a local catalog with a style you like. Otherwise you get overloaded with design books and have to make decisions on the spot.
You might also take along something you like for them to use as a pattern to make more! almost 8 years ago

Well if you're staying at the Somerset lake point hotel, there is a tailor I've happily used now on my last two visits,
I'm useless with company names, but its the one on the ground floor, near the back escalator.
The things he's made for me have been really great quality and well cut, and he's done well with meeting my requirements. He also deals not only in suit and shirts, but has chinese & thai silks as well. Have had lovely shirts made in both cotton & silk, and great chinese silk jackets, all well finished. I've seen his handiwork with suits too - nice. Don't be afraid to specify the details too eg type of buttons etc.
You can also take along a favourite shirt/jacket/suit and have them make up copies over 7 years ago

I am a frequent visit to Bangkok for business and usually i stay at Siamheritage near Silom since its close to Sathorn the business district. I use the tailor there. Have been using them for over a decade now. The shop specializes in silk, wool , cashmere fabrics for suits dresses shirts for formal and informal occassion and has an assortment of colors and styles to choose from. The tailor at the entrance of the Siamheritage charge reasonable prices and speak both German and English. Orders can be made at the store at the store. Bangkok has pretty much become home for me this past 5 years, and I need suits regularly, so for me, new suits are always a fantastic present for myself. I've always chosen to go to Crown Tailors on Sukhumvit soi 8. They've done an awesome job over time and for me, I no longer have to get measured again..(so long as I keep my weight stable of course) :) over 7 years ago

I regularly visit bangkok once a year for my business and family and I have tried out quite a few tailors even ones recommended by my friend. Out of them, my favorite is Jhasper Fashion in Sukhumvit 11. It was the best fitted suit that I got from them and have stuck to them ever since! almost 7 years ago

I have used Narry and Aron. I found the service at Savile Row a little friendlier, their suits came out the way I wanted slim line, narrow lapels and I had to tell him in advance they had no problem to understand me. They gave me fancy linings with contrast colors inside the Jacket, sleeves with real button holes (workable) and they fitted me once and on the next I went to pick them up and they were PERFECT fit.
The workmanship on the suits was far better than other tailor which I tried. Their selection of fabric was exceptional huge and their prices are reasonable. I would suggest you to try them next time you go to Bangkok and I would highly recommend them. almost 7 years ago

Without a doubt, there are plenty of tailors in Bangkok, however it is a matter of finding the right one to make sure you are not being fooled for your money. It took me a while but we finally found ourselves becoming regular customers of Crown Tailors in Sukhumvit soi 8. You pretty much get what you pay for and Crown does that. They make sure they treat you well & make sure you are extremely satisfied with your end product. I wouldn't go anywhere else for my suits. www.crowntailor.com. over 6 years ago

After spending the last couple of weeks touring around South East Asia, we finally decided to make our suits in Bangkok where we spent the most time, therefore allowing the most time for the fittings for our suits. We ended up using Crown Tailors on sukhumvit 8 and we were extremely happy with what we had made up. With the help provided by Crown's staff, our own understanding of suits, and more importantly, the very good work that Crown were able to reproduce based on what we asked of them, we are able to extensively pass on the recommendation for Crown Tailors as a great place to have suits made. As a reference, I live in NYC and have been wearing suits to work just about everyday of my life, so I know exactly what suits are supposed to look and feel and I am a very happy client of theirs. about 6 years ago

I just came back from Bangkok last week and I can recommend State tailors, located in the State Tower on Silom road. Here I had 2 suits made, and I must say that I'm very pleased with the result. In contrast to many other tailor shops in Bangkok, this is a quiet place where they take the time for measurements, selection of fabrics and fitting. The 2 cashmere suits were ready in 3 days and cost 400,- Usd. almost 6 years ago

I have been very impressed with the quality of the suits and shirts I have had made at Excelsior tailor during my holidays in December last year.
The service is first class - not in any way pushy, and you can take time to browse what is a very extensive range of materials and patterns.
I have bought 4 suits and 12 shirts from them and I love them. The clothes are an outstanding value. I have bought from the store and also through the mail, and the clothes are outstanding. almost 6 years ago

The fact that I work in NY, I know exactly how important a good suit is. I've been round to many tailors in Bangkok and there's really only a few who really know how to do a good suit and listen to what I want. Finding out about Crown Tailor seemed to be the best news for me, so here I am sharing the information I think everyone else should be aware. Do not just walk into any store for tailored clothes. Do your research. You will know of the scams and the useless tailors. Crown Tailor isn't one of them. Crown will do the job that you want, with all the fittings you need. Look them up. They're worth it. over 5 years ago

I use the Ever Rich Tailors in Sukhumvit, they don't hassle you and sell from the footpath like some tailors in Bangkok. Small operation but good quality and great rates i have found, i will not go anywhere else. They have made about 6 suits for myself and husband over the past 4 years. They are about directly opposite the Landmark hotel (other side of the road) at the front of the Ever Rich Inn hotel. Hi,
For 5,500 baht/suit, I am sure you will get a polyester suit in the name of wool. For a good quality wool suit, the prices would range 10,000 baht above. I am a foreigner living in Thailand for an year and recently upon a recommendation of a friend, I visited Universal tailors on silom road. They turned to be a total treat; great fabric selection and workmanship. I had 3 fittings to ensure a fantastic fit. I highly recommend them!
