Dubai is a very safe place and you should not have any trouble, although the only time that you can walk around is when the weather is cooler between nov-mar. over 7 years ago

Its going to be too hot and too sticky to be walking around in July - even at night. You will need to get cabs to places and grin and bear the heat.

When it is cool enough then Dubai is like any other city in the world - it has its good and bad places. Petty crime is on the rise and pick pocketing in the larger bars is definitely on the rise, but compared to say London, then the number of cases is very small.

As a woman living in that area, I feel very safe, but I am always aware of where I am and who/what is around me. I wouldnt walk around a deserted part of town late at night on my own anywhere in the world. over 7 years ago

I was in Dubai alone for 10 days and 3 days in Abu Dhabi a couple of weeks ago. I'm a woman travelling alone. I have never before felt so safe walking on my own at night e.g. in BurDubai or Deira, not to mention Dubai Marina. And I've travelled around the world. I will definitely go back next year. almost 5 years ago

I am 25 years old and I was born and raised in the Emirates. Dubai is my home. I have travelled all over the World. The U.A.E has a near zero percent crime rate and Dubai is one of the wealthist cities in the World. We have gambling, every brand name department store and top designer stores, if not more than anywhere else in the World. Some of the most expensive real estate you will ever see in your life. Indoor skiing at the shopping mall, the tallest building in the World and Burj Al Arab hotel, which is the only 5 star deluxe hotel in the World. Also sometimes rated as a 7 star hotel. Police officers walk the streets 24/7 not because surrounding countries are at war, but because that is what they do in order to keep our crime rate at a near zero percent. People will not bother you here in the U.A.E. It is beautiful, safe and very welcoming to tourists from all nations. Why do people think that because Emirates is situated in the Midde East that it must be at war with someone? When you do decide to come visit us in Dubai. Just make sure you bring plenty of cash because it is very expensive here. Women please do not flaunt your bodies, that does not go down well here. Just be modest and you will have the time of your life. Yes you can wear jeans and a polo shirt ladies. Just don't run around in your shortest skirt with your titties hanging out. Always wear undies. :) over 4 years ago

I dont think that the OP was referring to a war situation, more from a female perspective on what she would find here. As I said in my original answer, it is very safe, but crime is definitely on the up. You only have to read the Gulf News or The National to see murders and rapes are happening - but I agree, this is not the normal and they happen infrequently, but they do happen.

Yes the UAE is rich and full of oil, big hotels, expensive shops etc - but the main base of the population are immigrant workers who survive on very little each day. I am not suggesting for one minute that they are the root of any problems, but everyone should be aware that the UAE - whilst a great country for me - provides challenges for other people.

I have lived here 5 years and really do like it. I am happy to be slightly more modest in my dress and my attitude but I do live my life to the full and enjoy going out. The lack of culture was difficult at first, but this is improving with art exhibitions and concerts etc. over 4 years ago

I hate Dubai and UAE in general. I went there with my girlfriend and felt demonised the whole time we were there. Women are treated like shit nad have no freedom. My girlfriend had to wear stupid clothes and was boiling up most of the time because she lived in fear of being arrested for wearing to revealing clothes. Its not much of a holiday destination when you hjave to live in fear of going to jail for something so small.
I think its pathetic of the aribs to be telling holiday makers how to live there life.
Im catholic and i dont go round telling arabs that come here that they must respect the sabbith and they cant conceal there faces for security purposes. I will never go near Dubai and i have to say i have build up a serious hate towards Arabs for the way we were treated over there. I have put loads of my friends off going there with good reason as no one wants to see there friends jailed in a shit hole country for a stupid reason by stupid people that believe in stupid religion. religion is the root of all evil in the world and the arabs are the most evil of the all. about 4 years ago

I would like to say to Peter if that's your name, that what you said about Arabs is rubbish..!!! Arabs are very friendly people and if you are taking about Muslims/ Islam it is one of the most peaceful religions in the world!!! It's the extremist that give Arabs/Islam a bad name...!!! I am Birtish and live in a Arab country..!! Yes you may have to dress a little bit more modesty. Your girlfriend could wear lose fitted shirts with long skirt or maxi dresses with shawl over..! It's not hard and it's cooler!! If you can't handle the heat go in the cooler months.! Use your brains in stand of call Arabs in whole..!!! about 4 years ago

My sister went to Dubai with her friends, all girls on their own last February for a 15days vacation. Its completely safe anytime of the day or night. The officials assure high security at all times being a tourist hub and with so many foreigners as well as celebrities flying down all the time, its undoubtedly the safest tourist place there can be. about 4 years ago
