I have been to Edinburgh twice. I would say 2 days are good. Edinburgh has an "old" town, which is really very nice and worth spending time just walking around all day (1 day). Then I would visit the castle on the 2nd day. The "new" town, which is next to the old town is also nice, but not as special - the new town is similar to any other city really, with shops and all. Good shopping though! Have fun! almost 9 years ago
I have been there a couple of times. Make sure you have good weather ;-). 2 full days should be enough to see the main attractions. 3 might also work out ok. I had a fun time in some clubs there if you are into that. The old town is nice but I have never been to the castle. almost 9 years ago
I totally agree with the other two. I have been to Edinbough for 2.5 days and I think it was enough to get a good impression of the city. One day i spent working around the "old part" of the city including the castle - seeing a sundown up there on the hill is actually really beautiful! and the 2nd day I went to the different National Galeries. I have been to the National Museum of Scotland - huge museum, and very interesting. You can either get an audio guide or when you are lucky this charming older man is doing one of tours where he is pointing out the most important things in a really entertaining and amusing way. And, because I am interested in art, I went to the National Gallery of Scottland and the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art. The great thing about all those National Galleries and Museums is that they are admission free and they are linked by a free bus. almost 9 years ago
I've only been once and did pretty much most of it in that time. Old town and Castle. Would say 2 would be plenty although getting out of town into the countryside for a day, maybe Loch Lomand or the Firth would also be worth doing. There's also a huge dry ski slope about 8 miles out of the city which apparently is a great day. over 8 years ago
Agree with the above. 2 full days should be good. I love Edinburgh and visit it regularly. I'm going again next week! :)
Royal Mile a must. Based on the Royal Mile: Camera Obscura (really good!) Scottish Malt Whisky society (opposite Camera Obscura and Mary King.
Great restaurants, bars and entertainment. If you need more info let me know. Happy to help.
