I am going in August/September and I have planned all the sites I want to see. But they are really spread out over the countries. Is the best way to rent a car or is there buses that run everywhere or a train?

    • Thank you! So is there a train that goes from say Glasgow to near the Isle of sky? Or is it a train then a bus or something or is it a million transfers? Christi Beaudin almost 4 years ago
    • I just want to have a better idea of how I'm going to be getting to all the "little things" I want to see, like the castles, abbeys and just the country in general. Christi Beaudin almost 4 years ago

If you want to go to all the tiny little towns on Skye, or hike up some of the hills for example, having a car is undoubtedly the way to go. But remember that petrol is quite expensive in the UK. Maybe catch trains between the big towns and then hire a car for local experiences? From memory, it's about 3-4 hours drive from Glasgow to the West Coast where the Skye ferries go - and it's some of the most scenic and amazing countryside anywhere in the world! almost 4 years ago
