Great question! The food here is sadly understated! So believe it or not the most popular dish in England at the moment is… curry! Our English version of the Indian cuisine is not to be missed especially if you're heading to East london you'll need to check out what Brick Lane has to offer http://www.aladinbricklane.co.uk/
If you are wanting to steer down the more traditional route then in my opinion the path to taste bud heaven lies in Bangers and Mash - Sausages with caramelised onion gravy, The Lancashire Hotpot, my number one choice for a toasty winter casserole of meat and vegetables topped with sliced potatoes and my total favourite is Spotted Dick, the ever pleasing sounding steamed pudding stuffed with currants and topped with custard! http://uktv.co.uk/food/recipe/aid/513173.

This is really interesting question, so hope i will help you-Eat ethnic. There are some great deals in London on curries, kebabs and various specialties from India, Asia, the Middle East and many other regions. Just bear in mind that dishes may sometimes come with french fries ("chips") rather than the rice you might otherwise expect. almost 7 years ago

Definitely try http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sunday_roast ; or if you're into smoked fish - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kippers that one is really tasty as I adore fish; also there is a great variety of scones http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scones which are great with butter and some jam with tea as an afternoon snack. :) almost 7 years ago
