Has anyone driven down the pacific coast scenic byway? How many days does it take, and what are the best places to stay?

I live on the Coast, and I've driven the length of it. I'd be happy to make suggestions, only I'd need a little more info. What's your fancy, or what are your interests? How much time do you have? Where are you flying into? Where are you headed? You could easily drive it in three days, or less if you drive at night, but that would defeat the purpose. : ) Feel free to email with your specific questions. almost 7 years ago

Hi Leonard - thanks for helping!

I'm thinking about driving from San Francisco to Seattle on the 101.. is this feasible (am I crazy?) or should I try to plan a shorter distance? As an Australian I'm interested in the beach, national parks, and the like. Are there any beach towns along the way? almost 7 years ago

    Hi Ian,

There are heaps of lovely beach towns along the way from San Fran north. Once you hit Washington, you'll need to make a choice either to go inland to Seattle or up along the coast. The Washington coast is quite wild and sparsely populated compared to the Oregon coast. There are still towns, but the beaches are not developed. Makes for awesome camping, especially up near the tip of the Olympic Peninsula. I'd be guessing to say how long the trip would take you, but Google Maps should give you a decent estimate of the driving time involved. almost 7 years ago

Call directly to motel and ask for Jamilla and room 201 or 203 - say we referred you - enjoy over 5 years ago

We just got back from a week at Cannon Beach and it was wonderful. We go there every couple of years and always have a great time. The Waves is a good place to stay as it's walking distance to most everything. If you go you have to try Fultano's Pizza. OMG we love it. over 5 years ago
