Fun question! Try this: take the 10 out of Huntington Beach so you can drive through Palm Springs and past Joshua Tree National Park out to Phoenix, AZ (@ 8 hours). Spend the night in Phoenix or Scottsdale, catch a D'backs game & hit up Alice Coopers' Bar for some wings. There is a really nice Hilton property in Scottsdale with a great restaurant on site. From Phoenix, head out to the West Texas town of El Paso (@ 9.5 hours) after that, maybe stop in Austin, TX (it's more like 10-10.5 hours but I don't really know what's in between in that part of TX that is worth spending the night. I'm sure there are plenty of nice places but I don't know them). The next leg is shorter at around 7-7.5 hours but the end game there is New Orleans, LA...from there you are around 11 hours from Tampa. It says it should be about 40 hours of driving in total so that would average you around 8 hours/day of driving time. Good Luck and have fun! over 4 years ago
