We're staying in Las Vegas for a few days and we'd like to make it out to the Grand Canyon... a lot of package deals seem expensive and I was thinking of just renting a car to drive there and back. Is that too long/painful a trip to do in one day? Has anyone had experiences they'd like to share?
It's about a 5 hr drive to the south rim, but definitely worth a visit. It all depends on your preferences, but I personally would prefer spending time hiking around the canyon. Much more beautiful, and you're much likelier to walk away with money still in your wallet! over 10 years ago
While you are there, make the drive and visit Lake Powell on the Utah side, First Mesa in (Hopi land), The White House monument near Many Farms (Navajo Reservation) and drive through Monument Valley up by four corners for an incredible desert experience. over 10 years agoAnswered by judith harris via Travellr.com
