Stopover in New York late at night on a Wednesday. Hoping that this city really doesn't sleep so I can see some of it! Never been before and keen to walk around to see a few things as well as relax at a cafe or bar... any suggestions?

Well my first suggestion would be to use LimoRes to pick you up and take you back to the airport - http://www.limores.com

You can motor over to Midtown and checkout Times Square and then I would head south to the Meat Packing district around 10th Avenue and 14th Street. There are some nice & trendy high-end cafes and bars, this is a new, chic part of town.

If you have some time to kill you could also head towards the East Village which is packed with bars and restaurants and there should be a fair number of people out and about even on a Wednesday.

Had similar idea to Keith. Also include as part of the Limo trip to pop over to Queens and come back over bridge eg Queensborough Bridge - observe the unique Manhattan Skyline on your return.

Stayed in East Village a few years ago - plethora of music / food / drinks to sample accrording to your taste.
