East coast of America

over 5 years ago about United States

It's going to be my first time in the states and I only have approx 15 days, I want to see New York, Philadelphia, and Washington obviously, can anyone give good routes or tips for a (least expensive) route? With the unfortunate fact I don't drive!

Amtrak has connections with those destinations, although the fares are a little high. Then there's the famous Greyhound bus network. If price is a major issue there are other cheaper bus companies, BoltBus (https://www.boltbus.com/) and MegaBus (http://us.megabus.com/). Advantages for bus and rail travel: no security check hassles, the destination is usually in the heart of the city not the outskirts, and you don't have to find a parking garage. Not only are Bolt and Megabus cheaper than Greyhound, the buses are cleaner and the stops are located in better and more convenient areas. The drawback is that their stops are next to the street, with nowhere to sit and wait for your bus. If you book early enough, it is even possible to get a fare for $1 on these bus lines. about 5 years ago
