My top 3 favorite foods in Hawaii:
1. Poke - if you like sashimi, you'll want to try this. It's a raw fish salad marinated in onions, garlic, ginger and sesame oil.
2. Kahlua Pig - traditional ground-baked pork which gives the meat its smokey flavor. It's served in most Luaus.
3. Malasadas - Portuguese-style donuts. Sugary goodness often stuffed with jam, chocolate or pudding. You can even try the lilikoʻi (passionfruit) flavor.
There's also Hawaii's famous Shave Ice, Loco Moco breakfast and an insane amount of fresh tropical fruits! 12 months ago
Lots of common local places to get some of the local favorites like chicken katsu (chicken cutlet), or breakfast that includes fried rice and or Portuguese sausage (even McDonald's has a Portuguese Sausage/Scrambled Eggs & Rice breakfast. Or try some of the local lunch wagons you should find near beaches or walk-ups (mostly called drive-ins) where you can order takeout plate lunches.Anything made with lilikoi (passion fruit). Taro bread or taro rolls. They're purple, have a sweet taste and are super Ono! 12 months ago
