I'm planning on going to New York City in Feb. and was wondering if I would have to worry about bed bugs.

There's been problems, but many hotels are addressing the issue. There's been infestation in schools (I teach), but as of yet, nothing in my classroom and haven't brought anything home. Schools are addressing the problem too. There were problems in some stores and some movie theatres, but haven't heard anything in quite a while. I would just check around the headboard, under the mattress and around lightbulb/shades and curtains to be sure. But I'd do that anywhere I travel anyway. Enjoy my city! It's really great! over 5 years ago

I'm not quite sure if there is or not - I'm heading over in three weeks and I'm taking a silk/satin kind of slip to sleep in - they roll up like a tiny little sleeping bag and they just protect you from anything that couldnt possibly be there! over 5 years ago

I heard putting Vaseline on the legs of the beds will prevent them from coming to get you too (if they aren't already on the mattress anyway) over 5 years ago

I don't think it's that crazy any more. Unless u r staying in a complete dive, I wouldn't worry too much. over 5 years ago

Check out http://bedbugregistry.com/ to see the latest reports.

I've stayed in NYC several times since the stories broke on the chronic bed bugs were being reported over a year ago and have never had a problem across all class of hotels I've stayed at (3star+). over 5 years ago
