Where are the best scenic lookouts in San Francisco? I'd really like a bird's eye view from somewhere in the city. Any ideas?

I just went to Coit Tower, it's a short walk from Fisherman's Wharf or the North Beach area. It's a bit of a hike to the top, but well worth it, especially on a summer's day! Got some great pics of the city and bay.

It costs $6 to ride the elevator to the top. Thanks for the tip! about 9 years ago

If you were thinking indoors, then the Starlight Room at Union Square has nice views, the Restaurant on top of the Hilton close to Union Square, and the Carnelian Room, in the Bank of America building.
Also, there are some skyscrapers in the Financial District that allow rooftop access and the views can be pretty amazing.
Also views from the hills of Pacific Heights can be pretty stunning! almost 10 years ago
