I don't necessarily want to limit myself too much. So I was thinking of trying to get a good mixture of historical stuff, fun urban (parks, buildings, waterfront), and perhaps some good clubs/bars.

I really don't know of too much to do in Philly so I am pretty open to suggestions.

Also any suggestions on a neighborhood to stay would be cool also. about 7 years ago

you definitely have to try geno's cheesesteaks. (some people might suggest pat's...i say what's wrong with trying both?)

the philadelphia museum of art has an amazing permanent collection and usually wonderful special exhibits. also, you can run up the stairs like rocky. about 7 years ago

    James-

Staying somewhere in Center City allows you the capability of walking to other neighborhoods and locations (or cabbing it if you prefer). There's a new boutique hotel called the Independent, there's the Alexander Inn, there are hotels like the Warwick, Double Tree, Sofitel, etc., B&Bs like La Reserve.

Check out Rittenhouse Square. Restaurants are the square are high-end, be seen-type of places. BYOBs are fairly unique to Philly, and depending on what type of food you like, I can make a number of suggestions: Lolita (upscale Mexican), Pumpkin, Matyson, Mercato. If you want to go to a place with fun drinks, Zahav, El Vez or any of Stephen Starr's restaurants. My favorite restaurant: Tinto (tapas) Enjoy gelato at Capogiro.

If you are into clubs and bars, go down to Old City at night -- 2nd and Market. Walk around there and on Chestnut Street. Cuba Libre, Continental are always packed.

Go watch the video wall at the Comcast Center, take a boat tour on the Schuykill, go the Art Museum, Italian Market (in Rocky), do the more touristy things like go see the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, Betsy Ross House, Constitution Center.

Happy to keep making suggestions if you have any other specifics you want to know about. about 7 years ago
