When will you be traveling? Are you interested in seeing museums, animals, reservations, historical sites? Do you enjoy driving or do you want to stay local in Phoenix? over 7 years agoAnswered by judith harris via Travellr.com
I highly recommend going to Sedona, AZ. It's about 2 hrs by car from Phoenix. There is no other place like it I have ever seen.
A few other note worthy places to attempt to visit would be:
The Barringer Meteorite Crater, which is about 3 hours from Phoenix
The Grand Canyon, which is about 4 hrs from Phoenix;
Petrified Forest National Park, which is about 4 hrs from Phoenix
Canyon De Chelly, which is about 5 hours from Phoenix over 7 years ago
Lake Powel (5hours)
*Tucson Desert Museum-ending up at Gates Pass at sunset (2 or less)
Canyon de Chelly-"white house monument"-(2 mile roundtrip hike)
Hopi cultural center, (on the way to Canyon de Chelly if going by Many Farms)
Heard Museum (PHX)
and all of James suggestions!
*best not to visit in the heat of the day in summer. over 7 years agoAnswered by judith harris via Travellr.com
If you're up for an easy and summer-appropriate hike hit the West Fork of Oak Creek trail a bit north of Sedona.
If you're stuck in the Valley (Phoenix area), I recommend the Heard Museum and the new Musical Instrument Museum (the MIM). It's museum time of year with the heat outside! over 5 years ago
