The best day trip from New Haven is taking the MTA North railroad to NYC. It takes just under two hours. The cost is $28 US round trip. Another good day trip is Boston, which takes just over two hours and costs about $100 round trip on Amtrak. For a local option, the beaches in West Haven are pretty nice to walk around. over 7 years ago

Deerfield, about an hour north of New Haven, is an actual living museum from the colonial period. A fantastic place to visit, walk around, sleep and eat. It's due north on I95 into Ma. Also, Sturbridge Village ... Our Williamsburg of the north! And the drive along the coast going east from New Haven ...places like Guilford ...and, you are about 2 hours from Newport, Rhode Island and the Atlantic. about 5 years ago
