I'm in NYC and I'm looking for a good place to get sushi. I've been given sushi recommendations Sushi Yasuda & Nobu 57 but from the sounds of their reputations I'll be out a couple of hundred by the end of dinner. Are there any good places that are a bit more affordable? Something more like 50USD a head.

Nobu is worth every cent. I ate at Nobu next door a few years back, had no booking, didn't have to wait long and it really wasn't too expensive.

Thanks for the wise words Simon.

Just went to Nobu 57 and had quite the experience. I can't remember what we ordered, but it was essentially opting to have whatever chef Matsuhisa felt like serving. 3 cold dishes, 2 hot dishes, miso, sushi and dessert, quite the journey! Incredible food, quite imaginative and worth every cent. about 7 years ago

    Hi Michael,

While a bunch of us holidayed in NY recently my Japanese mate raved about the sushi in a place called Raku in the Upper West Side. He liked it so much that he ditched the rest of us on our last sightseeing day to dine there.
