What is the nearest large city to San Jose de Carrasco and what is the crime rate? Thank you!

Considering retirement there. Very concerned with safety and proximity to a large city.

San Jose de Carrasco is located in the Canelones department which is neighbor to Montevideo, SJDC is located in the coast in an area called Ciudad de la Costa (coast city)

it´s very close to MVD airport.

10 minutes away from the upscale neighbourhood of Carrasco, in which you may find all the services. (restaurants, banks, hotels etc..)

Even though is always recommendable for a tourist or foreign visitor to practice common sense, Uruguay registers a much lower crime rate against it´s neighbors (Brazil/Argentina)

The answer was already answered......The nearest city is Montevideo...Carrasco is a dream town to retire..I just love it...And it is really the safest os this region of South America.....Uruguay is a very safe country considering what happens in Argentina and Brasil......These ones are VERY dangerous in all ways..... 12 months ago
