Word of warning - you can get single use and multi-use visa's. The multi-use visa allows you to re-enter the country again, which is helpful if you are planning on making a quick trip to Cambodia and want to exit again via Vietnam.

I made the mistake once of not checking I had a multi-use visa, and went to Cambodia for the weekend only to find out I could not return without a new visa! This is not a problem you want to have to sort out in a short period of time.

If you're living in Australia you should be able to send your passport off to the vietnam embassy in the ACT. Instructions for applying for one are here:

Ian, you make me feel so much better now :) I had to spend a couple of extra days in Hong Kong while The Vietnamese Embassy sorted out a new visa for my re-entry into Ha Noi.

Travellr's - take ian's advice - if you're hopping in and out and back in to Vietnam, be sure you have the multi-entry visa. It costs only a few bucks extra but will save you a lot of time, money, stress and heart ache in the longer run. over 6 years ago

Getting Vietnam visa in New Zealand

New Zealand passport holders as well as those countries’ citizens who are not in the Vietnam visa exemption list do need visa for entering Vietnam. You may choose one of the two following options to get Vietnam visa from this country:

Option 1: Get Vietnam Visa by directly visiting the Vietnam Embassy in NZ:

Embassy of Vietnam in Welllington, New Zealand

Address: Level 21, Grand Plimmer Tower, 2-6 Gilmer Terrace P.O. Box 8042, Welllington, NEW ZEALAND

    Phone: (644) 473 5912

    Fax: (644) 473 5913

    Email: embassyvn@clear.net.nz

This will take you about 5 working days to complete your visa (with your original passport sendoff, of course), and is more costly than the other way.

Option 2: Apply for visa on arrival online:

This is said to be the much easier and cheaper option that is favorable for those living far from the Embassy. What you need to do is just to turn on your computer /laptop, click www.govietnamvisa.com/apply, fill out the secure online form and make payment, you will receive your visa approved letter via email after 1 or 2 days, no passport sendoff at all. Then upon arrival in Vietnam (by air), you will get your visa stamped, pay the stamp fee and free to enter Vietnam. Kindly click here to see how it works.
