I'm going to Vietnam on April 24th from Australia and will be leaving Vietnam to return to Australia on the 3rd of May.

My Passport expires on the 20th of June and the Vietnamese consulate says that I need a minimum of 1 month between my exit date from Vietnam and the expiry date on my passport.

I have heard 6 months at other times, is this 1 month of expiry right?

I don't want to show up in customs and get denied and I'll have a return ticket so it should be ok?

I'd get a new passport sorted out, it only tales a few days if you get on the case! I've been caught out before when I was young and inexperienced and it isn't pleasant and is highly stressful.

I would get your passport renewed if I were you - if the consulate give you a Visa and your airline let's you fly, you might be ok.. but I wouldn't risk it. over 6 years ago

If you can afford to, definitely get it renewed. Someone we know got stuck in Bankok until she had worked for long enough to buy a new flight after her passport got declined. She had to work promoting clubs for a month before she could get home!! over 6 years ago

Hi, as I read at www.govietnamvisa.com you must have at least 6-month validity passport. So you should get a new passport before getting on board for certain. If you don't wnat to miss your flight and your trip in Vietnam, you should take it into account. Hope it help! over 2 years ago
