The internet is awesome in Vietnam, we always purchase a SIM card with unlimited data when we visit. We paid US $15 the first time and then the top up for another month of unlimited data was $1.50. The speed is much better than Australia. All hotels and restaurants also have free internet. Some cities also supply free internet but this can be slow in peak tourist times.
Cambodia also has free internet in most hotels and restaurants. It's not as fast as Vietnam but still better than Australia.
We have just spent 8 months in Vietnam with Visa runs to Cambodia, our daughter was studying in Phnom Penh for six months at the University.
We love Vietnam, particularly Hanoi, DaLat, Danang and Phong Nga. 3 months ago

Sure. In Vietnam right now it starts to developing 4G network, you can get 4G sim card with only $5 - $7 (depends on the currency and telecom services providers) and month charges for using with around $2 - $4. And Wifi is widespread at almost every corners. Excepts the remote areas. 3 months ago

Internet/data is available in Cambodia. If you want to get a SIM card it is very cheap. There are a number of carriers but I have found that the SMART card is good. You pay US$10 for 8GB of data that stays current for 30 days. Then you can add more money for phone calls. Even international calls from Cambodia are reasonably cheap. If you would prefer to just use WIFI it is generally available in all hotels, restaurants, bars, etc. 3 months ago
