I am going to Vietnam for 3 weeks and want to cram in a few things: Ha Long Bay, Hill Tribes, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh, Mekong and Siem Reap (Cambodia)
Is it best to organise tour modules before going, or is it cheaper, and easier to book them once I am there?
welcome to Vietnam!
you should book in advance, to cut off the cost you can book hotel in each city you come then can use daily tour from travel agent. avoid high season (oct - apr) this may busy of travelers. you also check some travel agent in Vietnam to compare the cost over 7 years agoAnswered by Dent via WorldNomads.com
Book tours and hotels as you go. You might want to book the first night in-country. You will find so many places to go and things to do, there is no sense in tying yourself to a fixed itinerary. The weather in the north might be a bit rainy and chilly in the winter, but if this is your only planned trip to Vietnam take in all you can. There are plenty of weather websites on line to check. By the sound of your proposed itinerary, landing in Hanoi, take in Hanoi, night train to Sapa, the night train early return to Hanoi will allow you to head to Ha Long Bay early that day, return to Hanoi and then head south to your next destination. Everywhere is wi-fi. Every hotel has a great travel agent.
Web sites such as agoda for hotel bookings are great and reliable. Free travel it's so easy, so don't pay more than you need and don't go where you want. People are super friendly and the food is great. Enjor about 4 years ago
3 weeks is ideal for Vietnam and Cambodia, let start from Hanoi first, visit Halong Bay then travel down to Hue, Hoian, Saigon, Mekong Delta cross border to Cambodia from Chau Doc to Phnompenh, then Siem Reap
